General Support

The Kapiti Coast Youth Council provides a voice for young people in our District. We get youth opinions heard, organise 'by youth/for youth' events, have fun and get active on youth issues.
Neighbours helping neighbours, exchanging skills and talents! Ever needed some clothing altered, or to revive a crashed computer, get some gardening help, learn a language for travel or fix a leaky tap? Well help may just be a neighbourly trade away.
Men’s Group Kapiti generally meet fortnightly on a Tuesday night in Waikanae. Men’s Group Kapiti seeks to provide a space where men can come and share in confidence - to be supported and challenged in the trusting and safe company of other men who are dedicated to becoming their best in all aspects of life. We invite exploration of personal integrity, accountability and connection to feeling. We do this with simple group discussions and activities that encourage awareness and authenticity.
In brief, timebanking is a way of exchanging skills using time, instead of money. Everyone’s time is equal, if you give one hours work you will receive one time credit. If you have another member do one hour’s work for you, they are paid one hour credit and you are debited one hour credit. You don’t have to trade with the same person, you can use or spend your credits with anyone. Timebanking is a non-profit, grassroots initiative committed to building sustainable, connected community.
Volunteer Kāpiti is an independent non-profit organisation that provides the essential voluntary workforce needed to maintain and sustain the work of community-based organisations in the greater Kāpiti region. Our organisation operates as a "recruitment agency" for non-profit agencies, assisting them in securing the time and talents of volunteers. Volunteer Kāpiti places individuals in voluntary positions that provide opportunities for work experience, gaining new skills, new ideas and the chance to make a difference in the community.
