Children’s Day is a chance for all of us to get together and celebrate the precious young people in our lives.

Since the early 2000’s Children’s Day – Te Ra O Nga Tamariki has been held on the first Sunday of March each year.

Hundreds of events happen all over the country each March, some big and some small.

Wellington highlights include:

Horowhenua Children’s Day @  11am-3pm

Levin Adventure Park
Bouncy castles, thunder run, old fashioned games, Ta Moko (children’s entertainer), free sausage sizzle, give aways, Kapa Haka, singing and dancing performances.

Dads Day Out @ 11am-2pm

Aotea Lagoon, Porirua
There will be lots of play at the park – sports and games.

Kids Go Free At Staglands @ 9.30am-5pm

Free admission into the reserve for all children. 
In addition to their usual attractions visitors can enjoy free off-road tractor-trailer rides plus a special performance from The Major Minors Children’s Choir.

Teddy Bear’s Masquerade Picnic @ 10am-12noon

Otaki Montessori Preschool
Fun with your favourite teddy – make a mask and enjoy some games.
An Open Day for Otaki Montessori Preschool – come and see what we are all about.

Silver Stream Railway @ 10am – 3.45pm (last departure)

Free entry for all children under 15 when accompanied by a fare paying adult from 10am till 4pm.
