Especially us Wellingtonians. It's too easy to push the threat of "the big one" to the back of our minds & carry on in ignorant bliss. Except we're not ignorant, we know the facts, yet still we fail to prepare ourselves. Some good friends of mine in Christchurch have been without water for 3 days, using a plastic bag and kitty litter to improvise as a toilet. There is so much we take for granted and this latest shake up in Canterbury is a powerful reminder to us all to think hard about our coping abilities should we suffer a similar fortune.
